About the practice area

Truck, bus and car accident lawyer

Crashes with big rigs, delivery vans, buses and other commercial vehicles cause some of the worst injuries on the road. These cases are different: commercial carriers usually have larger insurance policies, federal safety rules apply to many trucks and buses, and the company sends investigators to the scene fast. You need a lawyer who moves just as fast.

Daniel Weltin represents drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists hurt by trucks, buses, delivery vans, rideshare vehicles and careless drivers in the Bay Area, across California and in Texas.

Who is responsible in a truck or bus crash?

The driver, the trucking or delivery company, the vehicle owner, a maintenance company or a public transit agency may all share responsibility. We find every source of insurance.

Hit by an AC Transit, BART or Muni bus?

Claims against a public agency usually must be filed within six months under the California Government Claims Act. Miss that deadline and you may lose your case. Daniel recovered $8 million in Harris v. AC Transit. Read our guide: bus accident claims against AC Transit, BART or Muni.

Results

  • $8 million in Harris v. AC Transit, a bus injury case in Alameda County
  • $3 million settlement in a motor vehicle crash case

Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome in your case.

What you can recover

  • Medical bills and future care
  • Lost wages and lost earning ability
  • Pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment of life
  • Vehicle and property damage

How long do I have to file?

In California you generally have two years to file an injury lawsuit, but only six months for a claim against a city, county or transit agency. Texas generally allows two years. Do not give a recorded statement to the other side's insurer before you talk to a lawyer.
