Slip and fall and trip and fall lawyer

Stores, restaurants, landlords, cities and other property owners must keep their property reasonably safe. When a wet floor, a broken stair, a loose mat, poor lighting or an uneven sidewalk causes you to slip or trip, the owner and its insurance company can be responsible for your injuries.

Falls cause serious injuries: broken hips and wrists, back and knee injuries, and head injuries. Daniel Weltin knows how to prove what the owner knew and when.

Common slip, trip and fall hazards

  • Wet or freshly mopped floors with no warning sign
  • Spilled food or drinks in grocery stores and restaurants
  • Uneven or broken sidewalks and raised tree roots
  • Broken stairs, missing handrails and poor lighting
  • Loose mats, cords and debris in walkways
  • Potholes and cracks in parking lots

Tripped on a city sidewalk?

A claim against a city, county or other public agency usually must be filed within six months. Call right away so the deadline does not pass.

Results

  • $3 million settlement for a fall at a restaurant
  • $1.6 million settlement in another fall case

Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome in your case.

What to do after a slip or trip and fall

  • Report the fall and ask for a copy of the report
  • Take photos of the spot, the lighting and your shoes
  • Get the names and phone numbers of witnesses
  • See a doctor, even if you think it is minor
  • Call before you give any statement to an insurance company

Security video is often erased within days, so call quickly. If you fell at work, you may have a workers' comp claim and a separate claim against the property owner.
