An unidentified man died Thursday morning in a fatal semi-truck accident with a FedEx vehicle on Interstate 880 in Oakland. The FedEx truck driver was uninjured.

The name of the dead driver, a man in his 20s, was not released pending notification of relatives.

Semi-truck accident sends big rigs to I-580

According to the East Bay Times, the CHP towed the FedEx rig and two Honda sedans from the scene of the 3 a.m. crash. The FedEx truck had been pulling two trailers at the time of the accident.

The CHP shut down southbound I-880 for five hours. During the lane closures, semi-trucks were allowed to use eastbound Interstate 580.

Semi tractor-trailers are normally banned on I-580.
